Color Specialist - Full Time

The Color Specialist (Paint-Color Mixer) is responsible for mixing, tinting and formulating paint colors using pigments and/or base colors as needed. The role involves mixing of enamels, lacquers and water-based paints to match sample colors or custom colors following formulas and standard-color samples as directed.

Responsibilities:

  • Restore and maintain existing On Stage and Backstage signage and graphics using all available photos, sketches, blueprints, and other documentation - to Disney standards
  • Design and produce new signs using useful ideas with visual appeal, appropriate size, theming, material, and shape – under the direction of Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI)
  • Produce new project signs from WDI supplied sketches, blueprints, and specs
  • Read work orders, help coordinate needs with other crafts, and track the job until it is picked-up, delivered or installed. If needed, contact the requestor for clarification regarding the work requested, the work procedures, and the materials required
  • Use basic hand tools and/or electric hand tools (using the appropriate personal protective equipment) to complete work
  • Completes projects in a professional and timely manner with minimal supervision, taking into consideration budgets and deadlines.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Schedule Availability – Typical schedule is Monday through Friday with occasional shifts on Saturday and Sunday; however, be available to work any day and shift (1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift) including holidays, and overtime.

Technical Abilities
  • Experience, skills and abilities to perform the duties listed under “Essential Job Functions,” above
  • Skills and competencies to perform mixing and tinting base coatings utilizing industry standards and techniques on a wide variety of paint materials and coating systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Computer experience to include Microsoft programs, Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience with a computerized maintenance management system


Additional Information:

The pay rate for this role in California is $30.11 to $41.37 per hour, which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.

Those assigned to the Color Specialist position are required to attend an annual Respiratory Protection Training class and a Lead Awareness class. They are also required to submit to an annual medical evaluation, fit test, and a semi-annual lead/zinc blood test.

SCHEDULE AVAILABILITY
Our Theme Parks and Resort Hotels operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; Shifts may start as early as 6:00 AM, while some may end as late as 5:00 AM.
This roles is Full Time and requires full availability, including working evenings, weekends and holidays when needed.
