The Document Control Specialist serves as an engineering and facility document librarian, providing superior customer service to document users as well as being responsible for providing drawing and technical document configuration management for the Disneyland® Resort [DLR] Facilities, and Design & Engineering Divisions using the Engineering Data Management Systems [EDMS], formalized document protocols and release procedures. This position is responsible for the accurate cataloging, indexing, storage, retrieval and integration of engineering and facility documentation and for engineering parts configuration management while providing support to the Engineering Organizations and Data Management groups for parts research, selection and management. The position also ensures turnover deliverables meet IGDL-191042 Project Deliverables Turnover Process and the appropriate matrix processes associated with that standard and the specific project team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform proper quality control with minimal or no direction from management of the architectural and engineering drawings and related documentation through use of on-line programs and visual reviewing.
  • Perform the integration and archiving of architectural and engineering drawings with minimal oversight.
  • Transfer of metadata/drawing title block information from the architectural and engineering drawings into EDMS.
  • Index the CAD and other electronic files to the metadata information; providing on-line and real-time auditing.
  • Responsible for making decisions to Integrate and archive all related facility and engineering documentation in EDMS such as Engineering Communication Forms, Engineering Change Orders, Temporary Variances, Bulletins, and Design Directives.
  • Perform print order distributions of released engineering and architectural drawings along with related documentation.
  • Support special research projects for both domestic (WDI, Disneyland, Walt Disney World) and international sites (Tokyo Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland, Disneyland-Paris, Shanghai).
  • Support Project Teams and Project Engineers with clear directions in documentation release procedures and assist where necessary to eliminate duplicate efforts and minimize project costs.
  • Support Project Teams with Engineering Aid work, including plotting and scanning of documents.
  • Assist with drawing information and Bills of Material input into the Part Master database.
  • Independently manage, at a project level, all work related tasks to a project’s documentation release process.
  • Proactively work and coordinate with Project Team members and Project Engineers to successfully release required deliverables at project turnover to the Parks.
  • Responsible for being the point-of-contact to all Disney Parks & Resorts for drawing configuration needs, including but not limited to assigning drawing numbers, documentation research and managing document check-outs.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3 years minimum work experience in the Engineering or Architectural fields.
  • Possess an understanding of the principles behind engineering and architectural drawing release procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Possess an understanding of AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Have an understanding of the operation and use of scanners, plotters, microfilm scanners, optical disk and electronic printing machines.
  • Be proficient in usage of PCs and networks (shared directories on all fileservers); be cognizant in the use of electronic file types released to Document Control.
  • Possess an understanding of Configuration Management and related troubleshooting.
  • Be capable of providing training in utilized systems to a variety of clientele.
  • Possess strong customer service skills
  • Be able to perform technical Research
  • Possess strong organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • PDM Systems (Smarteam) or similar experience
  • Large format plotters (OCE system) operation

Required Education

  • AA/BA/BS degree/s or equivalent work experience equivalent to 5 years minimum

Preferred Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
  • Professional solidworks training
  • Professional AutoCAD training
