This position will be responsible for technical development and support of environmental conservation projects and strategies for Disneyland Resort (DLR), working with a multi-discipline team to ensure the 2020 The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) environmental targets for emissions and water conservation and waste minimization are met.

The Program Engineer provides technical program support to Facilities and Operations Services (FOS) Environmental Programs in the development and implementation of Disneyland Resort’s technical investment program for emissions and water conservation. This role requires a challenging balance of highly analytical, technical portfolio management skills with strong influence and facilitation skills. The FOS Environmental Programs, Program Engineer will help identify possible projects, perform calculations, gather expert input property-wide and support implementation and overall technical strategies to help DLR meet the publicly stated TWDC environmental targets. This program engineer will support cross-functional project teams to successfully develop and implement initiatives including integration of sustainable design standards and tools.

The scope of FOS Environmental Programs includes ownership of DLR site implementation and collaboration segment wide.. As this role has property-wide responsibility and segment wide influence, an ideal candidate has a high level of comfort in working with partners across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Support development and implementation of technical investment programs to drive emissions reduction and water conservation. Support strategic planning effort as it relates to the IFP process and timeline.
  • Work to develop multi-year strategies, be able to evaluate the development process and ensure collaborative involvement from all entities. Ensure multi-discipline teams are moving together, identifying and helping solve for changes as they arise.
  • Work with partners and utility information to identify projects that meet our portfolio hurdle based on environmental benefit and impact calculations.
  • Support the technical vetting process for external solicitations claiming environmental benefit, partnering with Design & Engineering and Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) Research & Development.
  • Support the development and execution of environmentally related technology tests and pilots.
  • Support data collection requirements for DLR emissions, water and construction waste, partnering with groups includingEnvironmental Affairs, Environmental Integration, Facilitiy Asset Management (FAM) and Walt Disney Imagineering(WDI).
  • Work with FOS design and planning groups including Design & Engineering (D&E) and Integrated Facility Planning (IFP) to further integrate existing internal Sustainable Design tools and standards within these organizations.
  • Support development of training and Standard Operating Guides (SOGs) for design/planning groups in FOS.
  • Partner closely within all divisions of FOS, with a focus on the design and planning groups, Design & Engineering, Integrated Facilities Planning as well as Walt Disney Imagineering.
  • Cultivate strong relationships within FOS, WDI, Finance, Environmental Integration and Corporate Citizenship Conservation & Environment.

Basic Qualifications

  • 4 - 6 years experience with emissions, waste or water conservation efforts, proficiency in a minimum of one of these areas.
  • 4 - 6 years of demonstrated experience developing and integrating large scale environmental and conservation projects.
  • Expertise managing resources such as fuel, water and conservation efforts.
  • This individual will need to be influential and collaborative with all levels of management while also being able to lead the execution and learning for new conservation programs.
  • Must be knowledgeable in federal/state/local regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify opportunities and partner with multiple engineering disciplines to solve problems.
  • Demonstrated influence, communication and problem solving skills with a high level of creativity and innovation
  • Demonstrated strong relationship and negotiation skills with technical and operating teams
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment with multiple demands and competing priorities
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, project and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working within diverse team enviroments, proven relationships
  • Previous experience with WDPR segment-wide or multi-site efforts within TWDC

Required Education

  • Sustainable Design related certification or educational experience (e.g. Sustainable sites initiative)
  • Masters degree in Engineering or Architecture
