The @WDWToday Twitter Handle is the only social media channel that actively engages with Guests during their visits. Designed to be an extension of the legendary Guest Service Disney is known for, @WDWToday is focused on managing social media engagement - partnering across lines of business and within Experience Services - to influence Guest behavior in park, drive business objectives, provide service recovery and surprise and delight our Guests through proactive and reactive content online and in person.

Responsibilities

Make an impact by:
  • Responding to Guest questions, comments and concerns via Twitter.
  • Writing, editing and publishing proactive messages to drive engagement with the @WDWToday Twitter Handle.
  • Developing and executing strategy for social campaigns, including in-park activations.
  • Escalating Guest concerns to the proper recovery teams.

These are the minimum qualifications you need to be considered for this position:
  • Proven ability to develop effective communication products
  • Writing, editing and proofreading experience
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
  • Proven self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information
  • Flexibility of schedule, including the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior participation in the Disney College Program or other Disney experience
  • Previous experience with social media monitoring platforms, such a Sprinklr
  • Demonstrated graphic design or photography experience

Required Education

  • Currently enrolled, or graduated within 6 months of the start date of this internship, in a college/university earning a degree in Communications or a related major

Company Overview

Internship Eligibility:
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from an accredited college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must provide full work availability
  • Must provide own transportation to/from work
  • Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)


Program Length:
The approximate dates of this internship are June 2017 through January 2018. Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.

Housing: A limited amount of company-sponsored housing is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Your professional portfolio should showcase the following types of work:
  • Writing: Professional writing, storytelling and copy-editing.
  • Visual Communication: Photojournalism, videography and graphic design.
  • Social Media Examples: Tweets, campaigns, and or Instagram posts.

This position also requires a writing sample in order for you to be considered for this role. Your writing sample topic will be on the subject of “Happily Ever After” Nighttime Spectacular, debuting at Magic Kingdom Park May 12. Your writing sample must consist of:

• Three Tweets
• Two Reactive Responses to the sample questions below:

  • Will this replace the current fireworks show, “Wishes”?
  • Will we see characters from Disney’s Zootopia in this new show?
