The Project Specialist position supports the Water Science’s Team with the management of projects associated with of over 12 million gallons of water located at Epcot, Animal Kingdom, Aulani and Castaway Cay. This role is a professional position, and requires coordination with numerous Disney partners for planning of future efforts, the management and supervision of design and construction projects, the ability to develop intelligent resolutions to complicated situations. It also requires knowledge of the Epcot Building Code, understanding of moving fluids, and the ability to provide field directions.

  • Self motivated individual that will provide responsible care to projects associated with Animal, Sciences, and the Environment (ASE), with particular focus in the Water Science’s efforts.
  • The position will need to make project related decisions, in partnership with peers and leaders, that will provide direction to other Disney partners such as Design and Engineering, Facility Asset Management, Engineering Services, Attractions, and other ASE Cast Members.
  • Generate Scopes of Work and Justifications for future projects. Then coordinate with Integrated Facilities Planning (IFP) for the development of the projects.
  • Coordinate with the Water Sciences team and the Animal Care Partners to develop schedules for construction efforts.
  • Perform trouble-shooting and problem solving tasks to determine the most cost effective and/or time effective solutions to projects.
  • Provide direction to engineers and contractors for project schedules and project progress.

  • Understand the methods for moving fluids
  • Understand the means and methods for developing a project: develop the concept, obtaining funding, having the engineering performed, bidding the construction, scheduling the work, and then having the construction performed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with Engineering
  • Previous project management experience
  • Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
  • Understanding of pump curves, and have some familiarity with the various types of pumps and their benefits
  • Knowledge of types of valves and their benefits

Required Education

  • Completed a 2 year Associates’s degree or equivalent

Preferred Education

  • Completed a 4 year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
