Job Summary:

Have you ever pictured yourself crafting hats for Disney Live Entertainment? We are currently looking for a Milliner! This role will support the Costuming production teams in the development and alterations of hats, headpieces, and other specialty items for performers, characters, operational Cast Members, and Audio-Animatronics figures.

You will report to the Costuming Workroom Manager.

The pay rate for this role in Florida is $18.40 per hour.

As part of the consideration process for this position, there will be an 8-hour in-person assessment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic hat fittings
  • Apply size charts to alter and construct hats for accurate sizing/fit
  • Perform sophisticated alterations and rehab work
  • Construct hats and headpieces
  • Initiate or correct spec sheets and swatch cards for millinery
  • Connect and communicate production needs or concerns with leadership
  • Use accurate techniques to repair or alter hats
  • Verify existing patterns, swatch cards, and spec sheets to build or repair headpieces

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with alterations and refabrication work
  • Experience with industrial sewing machines for millinery purposes
  • Experience with irons, press boards, steamers, hand-cutting tools, and millinery tools
  • Repetitive twisting and bending
  • Repetitive grasping, clutching, grabbing
  • Sitting, standing, or walking for extended durations
  • Minimal climbing of step stools/small ladders
  • Lifting, lowering, and sliding of boxes/containers
  • Be able to work with or around costumes made of natural or synthetic materials such as fur, foam, latex, or mylar
  • Comfortable working with or around performers in various stages of dress or undress
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions or extreme temperatures
  • Comfortable working with cleaning chemicals and adhesives that may require the use of a respirator

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of specialty experience in millinery
  • Garment construction and/or alteration experience in the themed entertainment industry
